SKUAH was formed from a group of ocean-loving friends in Cornwall. One of our founders, Heather Allen, is an experienced illustrator who developed our distinctive linear style.<\/p>

The first sketch<\/h3>

From her studio on the Cornish coast, Heather uses a mixture of photographic reference and creative flair to sketch out the ideas for our clothing range. Sketching digitally on her iPad gives her the freedom to amend sketches easily to end up with perfect design.<\/p>

The refined design<\/h3>

Once the SKUAH team has approved the sketch, Heather refines the design. Drawing her illustrations digitally offers clean lines and the highest resolution for garment printing.<\/p>

\u2018\u201cI love to draw organic shapes such as marine life and often mirror my illustrations to create the final design. Mirroring can create unexpected, beautiful shapes that I might not have thought of initially.\u201d<\/em>

Adding colour<\/h3>

Colour is added from the SKUAH palette, and background colours can be trialled digitally to see which works best with the t-shirt colour options.<\/p>

Creating the t-shirt<\/h3>

Once the design is finalized, we upload it to our supplier Teemill\u2019s website<\/u><\/em><\/a> and complete the final steps to prepare it for printing. We use a direct-to-garment<\/u><\/em><\/a> printing method, meaning designs are printed only when an order is placed. This approach is more sustainable, as it ensures no excess garments are produced, reducing waste. It\u2019s also beneficial for you \u2014 allowing us to keep our products affordable while delivering top-quality prints on organic cotton materials.<\/p>
